Work work work... and some crazy film about ants!

Hello all,

Been pretty busy recently with work to create a proper post, however I have been playing a lot more of the witcher 3... between my bursts of rage, wonder and amazement at how beautiful the world is... I've managed to rack up several hours playtime.

In this time defeated many a monster and completed a ton of quests. What i really like about this game having not played its predecessors, is that its not just kill kill kill spell spell spell.. level up. Its a game that requires a player to think and solve and issue before fighting.

Having a thinking mans approach to the world of the witcher allows players to have the upper hand against the baddies that lurk in the world. Sure you can run in slashing away aimlessly but if you take the time to read up on your foe and find its weaknesses... By brewing the correct oil, potions applying the correct ruins... by doing this preparation fights can be a walk in the park... kind of well... may lead to less swearing and not spilling your juice everywhere.

Mixing a sense of adventure with an almost CSI like searching for clues to track down the next contract. Makes this game really enjoyable for me, just when I think i cant beat a aprt I go back trace my steps and then create a strategy to kill off whatever feindish beats/specter/evil creature I have come up against...

Haven't played much else really on this New Gen of console managed to fully completed (all trophies) on shadow of mordor another game I loved more so of its ties to the lotr universe but came to love its nemesis system. Have been in and out of the world of DBZ xenoverse, having finished the main story and now onto a new character its all about unlocking all the gear and trying to max out this fun... not fighting but fighting game.

Slightly off topic I managed to see Marvels Antman this evening and wow just as I was kinda loosing faith in the Marvel cinematic world (never had a strong motivation to go see avengers 2... so I'm waiting on the blue ray). Antman and Paul Rudd knock it out the park with silly yet strong scenes which make any marvel fan weak at the knees. Not to mention the frequent jests aimed at other films and returning characters (Howard stark has aged.....). Also its great to see Michael Douglas back on form as Hank Pym.

Trying not to spoil to much... BUT GO SEE THIS MOVIE!

Back again... A bit of a reflection piece

Hello all,

Been a bit busy as of late so been neglecting the blog a bit so apologies are in order!

Recently I gained a copy of the Witcher 3, so far I am loving it but have noticed several little glitches and some weird and wonderful sights. Now I've always found in games little oddities or defects in game to be a very enjoyable experience to fish out and find. I don't believe they ruin games (unless you play against someone in saints row who used standby on the modem.... but that's a story for another time ! :P).

I loved working out little kinks and defects with friends and remember when I was younger running to friends with excitement telling them what I had found! We would then go home sit on xbox live and then learn the ins and out of the treasure that surfaced...

I think one of the most enjoyable experience for finding glitches and cool little curve balls in the most recent years was the first gears of war game. Never managed to pick up any of the other titles but loved this game and played it to death. Myself and a few others as soon as we heard there was glitches in this game we used to hold several private games exploring all these really interesting abilities and bugs...

Falling through maps, monkey flips and the well known chainsaw glitch that would annoy several people. We never used these glitches against others online unless they used them first (our silly little badge of honor) but the most enjoyment came from trying to master the combinations of buttons and areas on the map to make these defects come to life!

My first ever experience of glitching though well the moment I understood more about games and whats going on behind them (Usually we called these cheats, whats cheat was that you used to get out the map?), silly I know but as a kid entering into the world of gaming and trying to get my head around things... yeah I was really naive and confused! Back to the point, first experience came from Halo 2 multiplayer; more so the ability to sword cancel or escape the maps... friends showed me the way and as a result this sparked my initial interest to learn more about how games work.

Learning the art of "glitching" with the help of the master chief and friend helped me truly acknowledge just how interesting and amazing video games were, more so just how much work went in behind them to make the end product. That might sound confusing but from my experiences with friends I went off to understand how games were made up, what programming was and in turn learned and strengthen my abilities as a designer. Obviously most would deem weird glitches and bugs to be bad but it led me to think were other people out there like me and were genuinely happy about finding a glitch? Which then showed me for the first time that there's many types of gamer/player and sometimes developers throw these little things into their games even if at first they see them as bad. They are left to add their own personal touch to the game and as a team they can look back and wonder how long it will take someone to find out that they can run through a wall if they perform a certain string of actions and scream like a banshee!

Looking back to the first thing that brought me to write this piece, the Witcher my favourite thing about the game so far outside the well written story and beautiful graphics/design (having never played a Witcher game before... which is bad I know). What i really like is the weirdness of the horse, having left it outside a pub in the first town, entering said pub and triggering a clip scene or two in the background there was my horse walking headfirst into the window of the pub from the outside... reminding me only of one thing...

Can't wait to see what I find next, obviously admiring the game itself as I go! :)

My top three picks!

Hello all,

Been viewing as much content as I can from E3, there are three stand out games that come to mind for me. Mainly because I enjoyed predecessors or never got the chance to play them in the past (Which did generate some hate)...

However my three picks which I want to have a brief post about are as follows:

  1. Kingdom hearts 3 (Major fanboy)
  2. Fallout 4 (Willing to give the series another shot)
  3. Final Fantasy 7 (Never managed when I was younger to play most ff titles)

Having been late to the series, never had the PS2 console as a young gent, I managed to pick one up at the end of its life cycle. However I managed to pick up the first two kingdom hearts game for pretty cheap! (Platinum ....those silver cases...wow!) However I was an instant fan of these games and when I can i always go back and playthrough... contemplating at one point writing my own walkthrough guide. Although not particularly new news the first scenes of the tangled world as well as game play got me more than excited!

Image result for fallout 4 logo

This might be hard to believe because most think this unvierise and this series is solid gold... but I never managed to finish fallout 3, I lost interest (SORRRY D:). However I did enjoy the game of what I played and have continually tried to go back and play again... failed but have tried. I really like the idea of Fallout Shelter and all the neat and quirky enhancements this title has (SUPER DOG). From what I've seen the game looks amazing and I will try my best to stick to it till the end when I pick it up... Also the pipboy collectors edition makes me want to spend the very little money I have left ! (Looking back at my master chief helmet from halo 3... it might not be worth it but it looks pretty sick).

Finally as mentioned the next title I never managed to actually play when it had its original release as I was a proud owner of the amazing Nintendo 64! So I am really looking forward to this title and getting the chance to play the new spanking version of it. With rumours of a port to ps4 of the original I will be playing both in order to compare which I prefer... VERY EXCITED for this!

So yeah this is my personal opinion and you may have other gems ... in the coming posts I will pick out and analyse in more detail than I have so far anything that catches my eye... Hopefully I will be able to pick up some new games in the coming weeks and as a result will be more active (Or I might just playthrough old games and analyse them a bit for your reading pleasure). Hope to get some more podcasts up soon as well for anyone who's been listening in!

HotS Night 2! My Adventures as a big red demon!

Good Day to you all!

You might find the next couple of posts really focused on blizzards new MOBA. When I play a new game for the first time I become obsessed with learning its in and outs. Blizzard have always had a control over me with their games, always jumping back into Wow whenever I have a itch that needs scratching.

What I love about this game is that it ties mechanics across all of its games into one platform, lets take for example the daily quests that award players with gold (a currency which allows new heroes to be purchased and kept for future games)... Daily quests have always been a big thing thing in the past few years of my travels in Azeroth. Its something not many MOBAs I have played truly utilize offering players this simple bonus for completing a specific quest (mine was to play as a Diablo character for two games), may give players an urge to come back.

What it did do for me was gave me the chance to try out a character which at first had no appeal to me... now playing this character I learnt quickly that no I will not be playing this character again as they didn't suit my play-style.... (A crafty way of saying I died.... LOTS!!!). However with this bonus in mind I felt why not just give this character a bash at least to get the bonus.

Its a nice way of expanding a players knowledge of the universe, adapting their playstyles of characters they may at first had no intention of playing. Not only improving as a player as they grasp new play styles but rewarding a player for their continuous play by getting them that bit closer to getting a new character. GG BLIZZARD!

Daily quests are often found in the social game market for mobile, which is a set of mechanics I have a strong interest for, how do you successfully bring a player back? Little things like this really help in my eyes. My overall opinion of HotS so far is a casual mans MOBA, its lack of items but skills in game allow a new style of play for those (me) that weren't very good but enjoyed league of legends to become good and learn a really easy learning curve in my eyes. The strategic battleground and little quests and kooky challenges in the maps themselves (place gold into a chest and a ghost pirate bombs the players base). really adds to the game and adds a strategic element in which players really have to utilize maps awareness and team work.

My next couple of posts will focus on this lovely game analyzing it in my own way, hoping to make an interesting read for you guys ! (Look forward to many a rage and the depiction of my epics deaths and defeats as I continue my quest!)

Welcome !!!

Hello there everyone!

Started a few blogs in the past and really got nowhere.... so this time I'm gonna motivate myself a bit more and hopefully get some ground. This blog should be weekly if not a bit more frequent and will involve updates in the gaming world I find nice and relevant... giving my own opinion.

Not only that however it will have some boring bits about what I've been playing and how I'm feeling about said games. Hopefully try and get some new games in where I can but mainly this blog will support my love for anything I can get my hands on in the gaming world!

First post outside the welcome I will be talking about my first jump into "Heroes of the Storm"Blizzards new MOBA..... Fighting the great urge to compare it to league of legends I'll try my best to focus. So last night I had my first shot of this... beautiful looking game, quite a lot of it caught my eye which made my first impressions really positive.

Having played this genre of game before of course enjoying it with friends I was never very good... so I like the ease of play here from my transition from horrible league player to ..."Awk am actually nae bad at this....kind of". Starting off fairly easily and playing bot games I found this really fun and sometimes quite challenging in comparison to league's AI (did it again sorry I am trying not to mention LOL). Playing of course with friends as that's my major appeal into gaming nowadays particularity the MOBA world... I cannot play these titles on my own...Just no...angry me comes out to play.

First and only character I have played in game (excluding the tutorial) was The elite Tauren Chieftain...this guy:

I know what your thinking bad ass right ??? Which is why I immediately went for this brute (excluding the fact it says he isn't that hard to play) All this guys moves relate to that of a metal head including a stunning ultimate attack called "MOSH PIT". But now what this game in my opinion has that blows any MOBA I've had a shot of so far is the depth of detail focusing on the characters (will have another post on the environment soon with all its devious bonus' and game changers) themselves:

  1. Animations
  2. 3D models
  3. Humor
  4. Everything just scream fun!
As I have only had a few AI games I'm still getting tog rips with this frantic and fun game and really want to play more so hopefully with a few friends on board I shall try playing against some humans. This game brings together favorite heroes and characters across all Blizzard favorites so should really get on board a wide variety of players... Keep reading folk will try to put up my opinions on the multiplayer against real players soon !!!
